It's a public holiday in Germany this Friday as the country celebrates 18 years of re-unification between its former western and eastern halves.
Major celebrations are being held in the capital Berlin, and in the port city of Hamburg, which currently chairs the upper house of parliament. Since re-unification, around 80 billion euros or around three percent of Germany's GDP has been transferred to the east annually in order to rebuild it.
