Officials say the first military talks between North and South Korea in eight months have ended shortly after they started. Thursday's meeting between colonels from the two Koreas marked the first time government-level talks have taken place since Seoul's conservative President Lee Myung-bak took office in February.
South Korea's Defence Ministry says it could not provide details on whether progress had been made. The talks came as top US nuclear negotiator Christopher Hill visited North Korea in a bid to rescue a faltering disarmament deal.
