Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko has urged the West to lift sanctions against his ex-Soviet state, despite charges by Western monitors that a weekend election had fallen short of accepted standards.
None of the 78 candidates from the liberal and nationalist opposition won a seat in Sunday's parliamentary election.
