Italian Valentino Rossi claimed his sixth world title after winning Sunday's Japanese MotoGP at Motegi.
Rossi needed just one point to secure his latest triumph but made sure with victory in Japan to claim his first world title since 2005.
Starting fourth on the grid he passed defending champion Casey Stoner on lap 14 and rode home to victory.

The win was the Yamaha rider's eighth of the season and also his 70th top-class Grand Prix victory coming home in 43min 09.599seconds, 1.943secs ahead of Stoner.
Britain's James Toseland, who started the race in 10th position, finished in 11th place.
"When it's gone it's gone and you just have to concentrate on the next race," Australian Stoner told BBC Sport.
"I felt really good out there but about halfway round I started to tire. I couldn't control the bike and I let Valentino pass.
"I felt better towards the end of the race but made a little mistake and couldn't make up the time. Valentino is a worth champion."
