Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has met with his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez in the southern Russian city of Orenburg. Russian officials said the two leaders would sign a number of military and economic agreements without providing any further details.

Chavez to nationalise Bank of Venezuela ... met outside Moscow with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who offered Russian help in developing nuclear power in Venezuela. Putin also expressed Russia's willingness to cooperate with Venezuela in military and technical matters. The two countries have boosted ties in recent weeks since the United States sharply criticised Russia for its incursion into Georgia last month. Moscow has dispatched long-range bombers to Venezuela and plans naval exercises with the South American country.
