Italian investors who withdrew an offer for national carrier Alitalia appear to be back at the negotiating table with the bankrupt airline's survival still up in the air.
Premier Silvio Berlusconi announced that the unions for Alitalia's employees had been summoned to a meeting Thursday morning at the premier's office in a further signal of possible progress in saving the airline. Meanwhile, with Alitalia on the verge of being grounded, its government-appointed administrator said he believes a deal could be reached for the company's sale by Sept. 30.
