Sudanese officials say they have located the whereabouts of a group of 19 hostages, which includes a number of European tourists. Sudan's foreign ministry said the hostages and their captors were about 25 kilometres into Sudanese territory near the borders with Egypt and Libya.

The group, which includes five Germans, five Italians, a Romanian and their local guides, was seized in Egypt's south-west, close to the border with Sudan last Friday. The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of six million euros.
