British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has defied calls to quit, vowing to stand by his beliefs and fight to make life better for people in Britain.
In a do-or-die speech to the Labour Party's annual conference in Manchester, Brown acknowledged concern over the party's future, and his own presentation skills. However he warned that the public would not forgive the Labour Party if it continued its internal squabbling in times of profound change and unprecedented turmoil in the world economy.
