Kidnappers in Egypt have seized 15 hostages including German, Italian and Romanian tourists near the Sudanese border.
Egyptian security sources said that masked men abducted the tourists, who were last seen on Sunday evening in Aswan. They suspect the hostages have been taken across the border to Sudan. Egyptian officials said talks are under way over ransom demands. Attacks targeting tourists in Egypt's Nile Valley have been rare in recent years, although a series of bombings targeted tourists in resorts in the Sinai Peninsula between 2004 and 2006.
