A moderate earthquake has shaken the Afghan capital and other cities in northern Afghanistan, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
According to the US Geological Survey, the magnitude 5.6 quake's epicentre was about 180 kilometres deep and about 275 kilometres north of Kabul, in the Hnindu kush mountains. The tremor was also felt in neighbouring Pakistan and Tajikistan.
