US Vice President Dick Cheney has reiterated Washington's support of Ukraine's bid to join the Western military alliance NATO. Following a meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko in Kiev, Cheney said a commitment made at a NATO summit back in April, which offered Ukraine eventual membership, still stands.
Ukraine is the last of three former Soviet republics that Cheney has been visiting in a show of support following the conflict between Georgia and Russia.
