EU countries have been sued fewer than three times since 2006.Some of the complaints against the Czech Republic concern the country's failure to adopt an EU directive by the set deadline.In the case of the first verdict, a country only has to cover the costs of the court proceedings, or several thousands of euros, and it is ordered to adopt the directive as soon as possible.But if a country faces the second verdict on the same issue, it may be fined from minimally 1.6 million euros to a sum ten times higher.The Czech Republic was threatened with the second court proceedings over the recognition of expert qualification, mainly in health care, earlier this year because the passage of the given bill was postponed.
However, the bill was finally made law and the country avoided the second verdict.
