The real pensions will thereby increase by 3.7 percent compared to 2008, and the average pension will amount to 10,000 crowns, Necas added.Over 2.7 million people take old-age, disability, widow's or orphan's pensions in the 10-million Czech Republic, two million of whom take old-age pensions.Pensions are regularly indexed as of January 1 in reaction to to inflation.This year, they were also exceptionally increased by 470 crowns as from August over the steep price rise.The exceptional increase is possible under an amendment enabling to index pensions if inflation exceeds 5 percent.
