Robredo 2-3 Djokovic
A mystery voice says "Be careful throwing those balls." We can only assume it's the umpire issuing instructions to the ball boys/girls. The atmosphere at Arthur Ashe is still pretty flat though there is a murmur as Djokovic misses an easy return but the third seed uses his serve to get him out of trouble.
Robredo 2-2 Djokovic
A lashing forehand from Robredo takes him to 30-0. The Spaniard reckons that's his best shot and you probably won't find many people to disagree with him. Djokovic grimaces as he misses a forehand return and Robredo holds. We're 13 minutes into the match and stalemate so far.

Djokovic rattles out another easy service game and the players promptly go for a sit down.

Djokovic pummels a big forehand past Robredo but the Spaniard responds with his first ace. The Serbian third seed goes long as Robredo holds on to his serve with ease. I'm starting to wonder if we could be in for a tight match here. What do you reckon?

Djokovic serves first into the sunny, blue skies over New York. Obviously he's not serving into the sky because that would just be silly. He's serving at Robredo and does enough to hold to 30.
1742: The players are out on Arthur Ashe Court warming up by plopping down a few serves. Fans of tennis fashion will want to know that Djokovic is wearing lime green shorts and a green and white top with Tommy going for black shorts and blue shirt.
