The conflict in the Trans-Dniester region is not of an ethnical or religious character, but it only concerns the power seizure in a certain period, Greceanii said. She added the Moldovan government hoped in support for a peaceful solution, in particular in an agreement between the areas on both banks of the Dniester River and the U.N. Security Council's permanent members. Mutual trust can be strengthened by economic and development cooperation of the Dniester areas, Greceanii noted. The developments of Moldova should also be stimulated by the Czech Republic that selected this country among the eight where it intends to help support civic society. In line with these plans, Topolanek and Greceanii today signed a protocol amending the treaty on protection of bilateral investments. Czech-Moldovan bilateral trade has been rising in the past few years. It increased from 33.8 million euros in 2006 to 45.4 million euros last year, while the balance ended up in a surplus of 19.4 million euros for the Czech Republic, according to the Czech Statistical Office (CSU). The major Czech exporter to Moldova is the Skoda Auto car producer. Czech companies also export electronic devices, reactors, malt, pharmaceutical products and paper to Moldova. On the other hand, the Czech Republic mainly imports metallurgical products, shoes, wine, jams and textile products from Moldova. The Czech Republic is the first foreign country visited by Greceanii since she assumed the PM's post. She officially invited Topolanek to a visit to Moldova today. Czech President Vaclav Klaus will receive Greceanii this afternoon. She will also meet Senate chairman Premysl Sobotka (ODS). Moreover, she will open the seat of the Moldovan ambassador in Prague. Greceanii and Topolanek will attend the Business Forum conference tonight to join a discussion with Czech and Moldovan businesspeople.
