Representatives of EU countries today agreed on postponing their talks with Russia on a strategic partnership, scheduled for September 15-16, if Russia does not pull out of Georgia by then.

Merkel Vows to Back French EU Presidency ... President Nicolas Sarkozy made it clear that further steps may be taken if the six-point peace plan is not met and the troops do not withdraw.
However, Topolanek said the EU was seeking ways of helping Georgia rather than taking steps against Russia.
"All possible steps that we discussed aimed at aiding Georgia and its efforts, Topolanek said, referring also to Georgia's interest in joining the EU and NATO.
Sarkozy today announced that EU representatives would negotiate with the Russian leaders in Moscow on September 8.
