Bata's death was sudden and unexpected, Velev said, adding that the foundation would release more information tonight.
Bata Jr continued the shoe-making tradition of his father, Tomas Bata, who founded the famous shoe company in Zlin in 1894.
Before World War Two the company grew into the major industrial enterprise in the region that caused Zlin to grow from a small village into a large town.
After the communists seized power in then Czechoslovakia in 1948, Bata's factories were nationalised and his son fled to Canada.
