UN chief sending envoy to Zimbabwe aheadof presidential runoff ... has said he will form a new government, despite a deadlock in the country's power-sharing negotiations with the opposition.
The government-owned Herald newspaper quoted Mugabe saying that the opposition Movement for Democratic Change didn't want to join the coalition. On Tuesday, Mugabe opened parliament to strong vocal objections from MDC lawmakers present. Power-sharing talks between Mugabe's ZANU-PF and the MDC have stalled as Zimbabwe tries to resolve a political crisis resulting from March general elections that the MDC won. Mugabe later won a controversial presidential run-off poll.
