Indian police have shot dead at least one Muslim separatist demonstrator as authorities tried to enforce a curfew in disputed Kashmir.
Eight people were hurt in two incidents north of Srinagar when troops opened fire to disperse anti-India protesters who defied the curfew. Earlier security forces arrested three senior Muslim leaders to prevent separatists from holding a pro-independence rally.
