The Bejing Olympics have entered their last day.
Sunday's first gold medal was claimed by Samuel Wanjiru of Kenya in the men's marathon. The 21-year-old timed 2 hours 6 minutes and 32 seconds, breaking a 24-year-old Olympic record. The Games will be concluded with competitions in boxing, basketball, water polo, handball, volleyball and rhythmic gymnastics. Germany is currently in fifth position in the medals table with an overall tally of 16 gold, 10 silver and 15 bronze medals.
