MP leaves Czech opposition Social Democratic Party deputy group ... is withdrawing from Georgia in a punctual fashion, in line with its promise to leave the country by Friday. Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Anatoly Nogovitsyn, added that Russia would maintain 500 troops in a so called "area of responsibility", which includes Georgia's separatist regions and a buffer-zone around them.

German Defence Minister Franz Joseph Jung told domestic public television that he was informed the Russian withdrawal would be complete by midnight on Friday.
