21.08.2008 - Czechs, Slovaks remember 1968 Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia
The people of Slovakia and the Czech Repiblic have been remembering
the 1968 Soviet-led invasion.
Czech President Vaclav Klaus is in the Slovak capital of
Bratislava, while Slovak Premier Robert Fico joins Czech
counterpart Mirek Topolanek in Prague for commemoration ceremonies.
Forty years ago army divisions from Warsaw Pact countries and 500
war planes attacked Czechoslovakia to crush the liberal reforms of
Alexander Dubcek and end an era known as the Prague Spring.
