At least 26 people have been killed in a series of attacks launched by Muslim rebels in the southern Philippines.
This was the worst violence the region has seen since an autonomy deal with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front stalled earlier this month. It also comes just days after government forces halted an offensive against the rebels on another part of Mindanao Island. Government troops have since retaken several towns where the rebels are reported to have burned homes and shops.
