US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is on her way to Europe for crisis talks with NATO allies.
The 26 NATO foreign ministers are to convene in Brussels on Tuesday to discuss the crisis in Georgia and the alliance's future relations with Russia. Rice's visit to Europe will also take her to Warsaw where she is scheduled to sign a key missile defense shield pact with Poland on Wednesday. German boss lauds Podolski double ... Washington insists the shield is designed to fend off potential missile attacks by "rogue states" such as Iran. The plan, however, has become a major source of tension with Moscow, which sees it as a security threat designed to undermine Russia's nuclear deterrent.
