Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has met his South African counterpart, Thabo Mbeki, ahead of a regional summit in Johannesburg this weekend.
The two leaders discussed a possible settlement of Zimbabwe's political crisis. Morgan Tsvangirai, Zimbabwe's opposition leader, is also in Johannesburg for the Southern African Development Community summit and is expected to meet Mbeki later in the day. Power-sharing talks between Mugabe and Tsvangiai stalled last week when they failed to agree on who should lead a government of national unity.
