16.08.2008 - Antigua 'prime suspects' arrested

Some of the eight people arrested in connection with the deaths of Ben and Catherine Mullany are "prime suspects", Antigua police have said.
The eight are currently in custody on the Caribbean island, Insp Cornelius Charles, of Antigua Police, added.

They are being interviewed and Insp Charles said more arrests may be made.

Insp Charles said the eight people arrested were all men and mostly in their 20s.
He did not think the men had been interviewed about the murders before, he said.
Police now have 48 hours to question the men, not including the weekend.
Raids
They were picked up in a series of raids carried out on the island last night and on Friday morning local time after police were given a number of leads from two women who are believed to be accused of handling items which were stolen from the couple.
The pair, aged 32 and 22, appeared before the chief magistrates in St John's, on the Caribbean island on Thursday morning and have been remanded in custody.
Insp Charles said he did not want to go into the details of their charges "for strategic reasons" but they had not been charged with murder.
Ben and Catherine Mullany were attacked at the Cocos Hotel and Resort in the south west of the island in what police think was a robbery which went wrong on the last day of their honeymoon.
Catherine Mullany, who was training to become a GP, was killed instantly after being shot in the head.
Her husband, a University of the West of England physiotherapy student, died a week later after being airlifted to hospital in Swansea in a critical condition.
They were buried in a private ceremony on Wednesday.
It is believed the ceremony took place at St John the Evangelist Church, in Cilybebyll, where the Mullanys married on July 12.
Their family said plans were being made for a funeral service to allow extended family members, friends and colleagues to pay their respects later this month.
