Pakistan's ruling coalition has agreed to table a motion in parliament to impeach President Pervez Musharraf.
Information Minister Sherry Rehman made the announcement after a cabinet meeting in Islamabad. She said the wording of the motion had been agreed and that it would be made public within the next few hours. She said the coalition had made a formal request to convene the national assembly session on Monday. The consensus came after three days of talks between Pakistan People's Party Leader Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of the Pakistan Muslim Leaque-Nawaz. Pakistani media have also reported that the coalition is planning to restore to their posts more than 60 judges who were sacked by Musharraf after he declared a state of emergency last year.
