German airline Lufthansa and the service-sector union Verdi have held informal wage talks at an undisclosed location on the fourth day of a strike by maintenance and catering staff.
Verdi says it won't start formal talks until Lufthansa improves its offer of a 6.7 percent pay increase. Verdi launched strike action on Monday during the peak holiday period in order to push for a 9.8 percent pay rise for 50,000 Lufthansa employees. The airline has said it will cancel about 10 percent of its flights to German and European destinations over the next five days.
