The court has, however, punished the party with financial sanctions. The head of the Constitutional Court says the ruling Justice and Development Party will be deprived of financial assistance from the state. Court chief Hasim Kilic made the announcement after three days of deliberations over whether the party had been trying to steer Turkey towards Islamic rule.
