The chairman of the International Olympic Committee's press commission, Kevan Gosper, has admitted that the IOC cut a deal with the Chinese government on media internet access.

Chinese Olympic torch reaches summit of Mt. Everest ... Internet sites deemed essential to report on the games, stepping back from a pledge of full, unfettered Internet access. Gosper said he was "disappointed" that the Chinese authorities were blocking sensitive websites, but that the IOC cannot tell China what to do. Two weeks ago, IOC President Jacques Rogge said there would be no censorship of the Internet during the August 8-24 Games.
