The agreement was signed by German Economy Minister Michael Glos and Iraqi Industry Minister Fawzi al-Hariri during a two-day visit to Germany by Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. A statement from the economy ministry said the accord guaranteed protection of property, free transit of capital and revenues and accesss to international arbitration in case of disputes. During his visit, Maliki called on German businesses to invest more in his country, saying the security situation in Iraq had improved greatly.
