Nine policemen have been killed in Afghanistan in air strikes launched by the NATO-led force after police and troops mistook each other for Taliban insurgents.
The "friendly fire" incident occurred in the early hours on Sunday, when Afghan and NATO-led soldiers moved into a district in southwestern Afghanistan and mistook the police for Taliban. The police commander for western Afghanistan confirmed the incident and said a team has been sent to the area to investigate. In a separate incident late Saturday, NATO says its forces accidentally killed at least four civilians in eastern Afghanistan.
