Nepalese state media say the newly elected constituent assembly has failed to elect the country's first president.
Lawmakers of the 601-member body cast their votes for three presidential candidates in Kathmandu on Saturday in the first presidential vote the country has seen. A re-run is to be held on Monday. Nepal has been in political limbo since the constitutional assembly sacked unpopular king Gyanendra and abolished the 240-year-old Hindu monarchy on May 28.
