European Union foreign ministers have promised to keep the bloc's reform treaty alive, despite its rejection by Irish voters last week.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said he hoped for a solution this year and suggested a re-vote might be possible after adaptations to the treaty to address Irish concerns. The Irish Republic is the only EU member to have held a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
