Iraqi Chaldean archbishop seized ... Bishops' Conference has urged people to look beyond their own selfish needs and contribute to society. Archbishop Robert Zollitsch told 25,000 worshippers at the end of a five-day Catholic convention in the northern city of Osnabrück that Germans were turning into a nation of people demanding things instead of giving. He said Christianity liberated people from "selfish regard for themselves" in favour of social solidarity.
More than 60,000 people have taken part in nearly 1,200 events, including discussions, concerts and prayer as part of the conference.
