Argentina is the world's second biggest supplier of corn and third biggest supplier of soy, however exports have been disrupted by a dispute over government plans to raise taxes on foreign sales. Farmers have bitterly resisted the tax hikes with strike actions that have caused food shortages in Argentina. The dispute has pushed up soy prices on world markets.
