Liska repeatedly said schools cannot get more money this year. On Friday, school unions announced they would go on strike on June 9.
They demand 3 billion crowns from the ministry, saying the high inflation decreases teachers' real incomes. The ministry stated that the strike would not change anything. The ministry plans to earmark an extra 4 billion for teachers' salaries next year. Liska said he would try to push through increases in salaries in education in the following years, too. He said he would like the extra money to go first of all to active teachers, such as Czech soccer hooligans may be punished during match at stadium ...
