Liska repeatedly said schools cannot get more money this year. On Friday, school unions announced they would go on strike on June 9.
They demand 3 billion crowns from the ministry, saying the high inflation decreases teachers' real incomes. The ministry stated that the strike would not change anything. The ministry plans to earmark an extra 4 billion for teachers' salaries next year. Liska said he would try to push through increases in salaries in education in the following years, too.
