Rail executives have agreed to a deal allowing German rail operator Deutsche Bahn to finally move ahead with its plans for the partial privatisation of the national railways.
Earlier on Thursday, Deutsche Bahn and its two unions, Transnet and GDBA, had signed an agreement securing rail workers' jobs until 2023. The agreement also keeps the railtracks and railway stations under state ownership. Deutsche Bahn plans to sell 24.9 percent of the company to private bidders.
