A group of Chinese climbers carrying the Olympic flame has reached the summit of the world's highest mountain.
The torch's arrival at Everest's peak was seen as a crowning moment for China in a world torch relay that has been marred by anti-Chinese protests. The demonstrations have focused on China's violent crackdown on anti-Beijing demonstrations in Tibetan areas of the country last March. Mount Everest is situated in Nepal and Tibet and the torch's route through the disputed region has been criticised by Tibetan exiles as provocative.
