Medvedev presented Putin to the Duma on Thursday morning, telling MPs that their work together would grow stronger over time. Putin's confirmation as prime minister is more or less a foregone conclusion since his party holds a large majority in parliament. German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in a newspaper interview that despite differences of opinion with Putin as president, she would continue to cooperate with him in his new role as prime minister.
